Xenonex – Putting Leaders first at The Sheffield College

Employees from The Sheffield College are the first to complete a City & Guilds Advance programme for developing leaders within Further Education.

The Certificate in Leadership & Management has been devised by C & G in partnership with Xenonex and KPMG.  It  aims to support the professional development of people within FE who may have an academic/teaching background and have since taken a leadership role.

Improved leadership skills can have a positive impact on financial performance, innovation and efficiency of an institution as a whole.

The Sheffield College cohort (pictured below) comprised managers from across the organisation.  As part of the final module of the programme the delegates presented back to members of the College’s Executive team with their own ideas and suggestions for making Sheffield College an even better place to work.

Feedback from those completing the course has been very positive and there are already plans to repeat the programme for an additional group of College leaders very soon.

The Certificate in Leadership & Management in FE is offered as an in-house programme. Modules cover leadership and management development as well as technical skills development and will cover areas such as Manager as Coach, Curriculum Drivers, Organisational Performance and Leading Learning. There is also an option to gain an accredited qualification through the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).

As an ILM approved centre and recognised in the ILM Hall of Fame for excellence in delivery, Xenonex are well placed to help deliver such a programme and are looking forward to working with others in the FE sector.
