Staff and students at Doncaster College are celebrating an Ofsted inspection which has commended the 'outstanding' support for students and given the organisation an overall 'Good' report, with good in every area inspected.
The support staff give to students is outstanding and I am proud to be associated with the college
The report recognises the learning culture and remarks on the enthusiasm for learning which they say abounds throughout the college.
Chair of governors, Ruth Brook, said: "A strong culture of achievement and endeavour has been recognised by Ofsted.
"This report acknowledges the support staff give to students is outstanding and I am proud to be associated with the college in my home town."
Staff were highlighted as providing good teaching and the success rates for all students have consistently and significantly improved over the last four years.
The management and leadership were also praised for embedding a strong improvement and aspirational culture throughout the college.
Principal and Chief Executive of Doncaster College, George Trow, said: "We are extremely proud of this report. It recognises that Doncaster College is now a good college with good financial health after several difficult years and most importantly it picks out the fantastic support our staff provide to students.
We are now well prepared to push further for outstanding designation
"Coaching and mentoring has become key to staff development and this has had a huge positive impact on the management team and staff at the college. We are now well prepared to push further for outstanding designation."
The report outlines a number of outcomes for learners and states including the success rates for the majority of students being above the national average.
"To achieve 'good' across the board in this report is fantastic," added Mr Trow. "There are always areas for organisations to improve on, but we will now be building from solid foundations. It is most rewarding to know all of our efforts and hard work have paid off and this has translated into a better learning experience for our students."
The report states Doncaster College carries out much excellent work in the community, widening participation, supporting business development, leading on enterprise projects and developing employability skills in students.
